Gardening within schools, leisure centres and summer camps

Educational gardening is a fast-growing activity that enables students to learn effectively by observing the life cycle of plants, understanding their needs in terms of water, light and nutrients, and experimenting with different types of plants.

However, the main problem in educational settings is that they are often very heavily tarmacked. So it’s difficult to see how you can offer gardening activities without digging up the tarmac and investing lots of time and money!

The Biopratic autonomous planter is an efficient and more budget-friendly solution. Very easy to roll out and manage, it will provide a comfortable gardening experience, which can be adapted to your constraints. You do not need to think about watering during the school holidays (the only constraint is to visit the site once during summer to pick the plants and check the water tanks at the same time)

Gardening is an excellent way for children to develop patience. They have to adapt to the rhythm of the plants and will be more aware of the food that goes on their plates. Involving children in the growing of vegetables or herbs will encourage them to adopt a more balanced diet.

Introduction to gardening

The Biopratic planter is the ideal tool to introduce and teach gardening to children, teenagers or those looking involved in vocational programmes, will reducing the constraints on staff.v

Our installations are supplied with educational material for teachers, who so wish, to help them with gardening activities.

The Biopratic raised planter will be of real interest to school teachers, because although most children do not have back problems, it’s easier to “direct” them around a raised planter than around a 1m² ground-level garden, and you can easily hold workshops with a dozen or so children around the Biopratic planter.

Leisure centres located on the same site as schools will see a double benefit:

  • It is often the same children that attend the school.
  • The gardening season is longer and the children can see the tangible results of their planting over the July/August period.

Gardening in crèches or nursery schools

Gardening for very young children provides many educational and sensory benefits. It fosters their physical, cognitive and emotional development while teaching them about nature and their surrounding environment.

Gardening in crèches and nursery schools has practically the same educational aims as in schools, but with constraints linked to the size and age of the children.

Biopratic has developed a semi autonomous planter that works with a capillary sub-irrigation system that allows you to grow a wide range of vegetables, herbs, perennials and grasses.

Our semi autonomous planters can be installed on most flat surfaces (tarmac, grass, artificial turf, slabs, etc.), making them a simple, quick and effective solution.
